Traditional Handsewn Kilt

Interested in having your very own handsewn kilt made in Scotland? Look no further!

Tamra can make kilts for gents, ladies, children, and highland dancers.

The most traditional kilts (regulation kilt) have a minimum of 8 yards of cloth, but you can also opt for a kilt with less cloth (casual kilt) if you're looking for something a bit different.

Contact Tamra today to chat about which type of kilt is right for you!

Casual versus Regulation:

•A Casual kilt uses around 5.5 to 6.5 yards of cloth, where a regulation kilt uses between 8 to 10 yards. This will change the finished weight of the kilt, some folks prefer a lighter garment.

•Casual kilts use 2 buckles and straps, where regulation kilts use 3 buckles and straps.

•Casual kilts have fewer and slightly wider pleats (average 20) and a regulation kilt has more and slightly thinner pleats (average 27).

Kilt Alterations

Already have a kilt, but it needs a little TLC in order to be worn again?

Have Tamra take a look at it for assessment and see what your alteration options are.

Cost: No fee due for assessment of the kilt. Cost will vary depending on what type of alternation is needed and time required to complete it. Quote will be provided after assessment.

**Please note that your kilt may not be able to be altered to your required new measurements, depending on how it was originally made or if there is a large difference between new and original measurements.**

Some alterations will require additional cloth - depending on the age of the kilt it can be difficult to find an exact match of the tartan.
